Nina Mason Pulliam Ecolab Field Trip
September 23, 2023

Eight eager birders joined field trip leader Aidan Rominger at 8:00 am for a morning of birding. The weather was cool and crisp with a very light breeze. We worked our way down the stairs to the wetlands below to begin our bird hike.

Our first bird spotted was an early season Ruby-crowned Kinglet. This was shortly followed by three thrush species, Swainson’s Thrush, Wood Thrush, and a Gray-cheeked Thrush. We hiked on to prime warbler territory where we saw seven warbler species including Black-throated Green Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, and American Redstart.

Further down the trail we had good looks at a Blue-headed Vireo and multiple Philadelphia Vireo. Our total count for the morning was 32 species. Special thanks to Aidan for leading a very enjoyable and successful bird hike.
