There were plenty of Great Blue Herons to be seen and a wonderful talk by Amanda Smith of Hamilton County Parks and Recreation.  It was very interesting to dive deeper into an individual species rather than the average local hike where we tick off species as we encounter them.  Amanda was extremely knowledgeable about Great Blue Herons and could field all the questions asked.

This is less of a hike and more of program from the viewing platform.  There are several more programs for this nesting season:

  • May 6 at 2:30 pm
  • May 17 at 3:30 pm
  • May 27 at 2:00 pm
  • June 9 at 3:30 pm

The event is free though preregistration is preferred.  Register by calling 317-774 -2574 or emailing amanda.smith@hamiltoncounty.in.gov.
