DESCRIPTION:HELLO BIRD LOVERS!\n\n\n\nBird Safe Indy is hosting training for bird window strike victim data collection/bird rescuing for the Bird Safe Indy (fka Lights Out Indy) initiative of the ABAS here in Indianapolis. August 15 is the start of our fall survey season and it runs through November 15. We need all the help we can get in documenting window strikes!\n\n\n\n\nThey will be meeting in front of the Indiana Department of Correction (302 W Washington St) for demonstrations that may last up to an hour. This will include some walking around nearby buildings. DESCRIPTION:HELLO BIRD LOVERS!\n\n\n\nBird Safe Indy is hosting training for bird window strike victim data collection/bird rescuing for the Bird Safe Indy (fka Lights Out Indy) initiative of the ABAS here in Indianapolis. August 15 is the start of our fall survey season and it runs through November 15. We need all the help we can get in documenting window strikes!\n\n\n\n\nThey will be meeting in front of the Indiana Department of Correction (302 W Washington St) for demonstrations that may last up to an hour. This will include some walking around nearby buildings. DESCRIPTION:Join ABAS Education Chair and Indy Park Naturalist Jessica Helmbold for bites\, drinks\, and Chimney Swifts at Fountain Square Theatre. From the Rooftop Garden Cocktail Lounge\, mingle with ABAS members while observing an active swift colony\, plus Common Nighthawks. There is a limit of 10 for this event and registration is required. The best viewing will be 8:30 to 9:30. \nThere is parking on the street outside the building or lot at Woodlawn Ave. just north of the building right off of Woodlawn and Virginia. Go to the side of the theatre building near Kuma’s Korner restaurant to find a building entrance door and hall with elevator. Take the elevator to the top floor.

This will be a great opportunity for birdwatchers of all levels. You may begin anytime during the season and come as often as you like. Pre-registration is not required. Don’t forget your binoculars! \nThese hikes meet in the north parking lot of Cool Creek Park past the Nature Center.

DESCRIPTION:Attention birders! Have you ever wanted the opportunity to improve your shorebird identification skills? Look no further than the Eagle Creek Ornithology Centers Shorebird ID workshop! With over 34 regularly occurring shorebird species found in Indiana annually\, shorebirds can be a fun yet challenging group of species to confidently identify. Join Eagle Creek Ornithology Center naturalist\, Aidan Rominger on August 31st\, 2023 where he will go through IDing shorebirds in both fall and spring plumage\, as well as other useful tips that make identifying these challenging birds easy. The first half of the class will be inside in the Eagle Creek OC classroom\, and the second half\, if there is habitat and shorebirds present\, we will go out and look for any shorebirds we can find in the park putting the classroom skills to the test! \nThe workshop will be located at the Eagle Creek Ornithology Center\, and will be held from 5:30pm-7:30pm on 8/31/2023. Pre-registration required. There is a $10 sign-up fee for all adults over 19 years old attending the program. All participants under 19 can attend for free with a registered adult!
