DESCRIPTION:The Marian University Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab is a wonderful place to bird watch\, with over 165 different species sighted since 2000. The property contains a landscape designed by famous landscape architect Jens Jensen in 1911. The result of that design is a high quality natural area with lots of wetland\, grassland\, and lowland forest habitat. It’s a historical and ecological gem in the middle of the city! \nWe will meet near the entrance to Allison Mansion at 8:00 a.m. every Wednesday during September\, October\, and November (excluding Thanksgiving week). Parking is no trouble if you arrive just before 8:00 a.m. Bring binoculars and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet if it has rained recently. No reservation is required. Jessica presents the history of coffee\, and how to select and brew the best coffees. Working at Indy Park’s Garfield Park Conservatory gives her a chance to show visitors coffee trees and teach visitors about conservation. Clearing land for the production of staple crops such as bananas\, pineapples\, and coffee is one of the biggest threats to our rainforests. Coffee can grow in harmony with the rainforest\, if we demand it. We can vote with our dollars to support conservation through the kind of coffee we buy. Learn how the small choices we make can make a difference. We will also sample different varieties of Rainforest Alliance coffees. Join us!

SUMMARY:CILTI Thanksgiving Weekend Hike at Mossy Point
DESCRIPTION:Walk off your turkey and stuffing with CILTI as Executive Director Cliff Chapman leads us on a hike through this stunning Parke County nature preserve. Mossy Point’s dramatic high ridges offer views of beautiful Sugar Creek\, where Bald Eagles often roost in winter months. Cliff is a former member of the ABAS board and served as our Conservation Chair. \nThis is a moderate hike with some slopes and hills. Participants should wear sturdy shoes for hiking on some slopes. SUMMARY:Bird Walks in the Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab
DESCRIPTION:The Marian University Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab is a wonderful place to bird watch\, with over 165 different species sighted since 2000. The property contains a landscape designed by famous landscape architect Jens Jensen in 1911. The result of that design is a high quality natural area with lots of wetland\, grassland\, and lowland forest habitat. It’s a historical and ecological gem in the middle of the city! \nWe will meet near the entrance to Allison Mansion at 8:00 a.m. every Wednesday during September\, October\, and November (excluding Thanksgiving week). Parking is no trouble if you arrive just before 8:00 a.m. Bring binoculars and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet if it has rained recently. No reservation is required. Join our naturalist staff and other guest leaders Sunday and Wednesday mornings and we will learn together. This will be a great opportunity for birdwatchers of all levels. You may begin anytime during the season and come as often as you like. Pre-registration is not required. Don’t forget your binoculars! \nThese hikes meet in the north parking lot of Cool Creek Park\, past the nature center.
