SUMMARY:Bird Walks in the Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab
DESCRIPTION:The Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab is a wonderful place to bird watch\, with over 165 different species sightings being recorded since 2002. No experience is necessary\, and the hike will be led by one of the bird experts at Marian. The only things that are necessary are binoculars and a little bit of patience! \nWe will meet at the St. Francis statue just west of the Allison Mansion on the Marian campus at 8:00 am every Wednesday starting August 31 and ending November 16. Bring water to drink and wear comfortable shoes. No reservation is required.  Contact David Benson\, dbenson@marian.edu\, with questions. Plan to arrive about 10 minutes early to find parking.

DESCRIPTION:Contact Chuck Anderson to be put on a standby list for this FULL field trip. \nJoin field trip leaders Logan and Kristina Lakins\, and Jonathan and Whitney Yoerger\, for an afternoon field trip to Goose Pond Fish & Wildlife Area in search of waterfowl\, cranes\, and raptors. Just before dusk\, Short-eared Owls will likely appear. \nMeet at the Goose Pond Visitor’s Center parking lot at 1:00 pm. The majority of the field trip will be by car with multiple stops to get out to view birds. Make sure to bring your binoculars and a spotting scope if you have one. A limited number of binoculars will be available to lend if needed. \nThis field trip is limited to 10 participants and prior registration is required. DESCRIPTION:Contact Chuck Anderson to be put on a standby list for this FULL field trip. \nJoin ABAS President and Field Trip Chair Chuck Anderson for a field trip to Celery Bog Nature Area. This will be a great opportunity to view waterfowl and year-round resident birds. Target birds are waterfowl\, including Northern Pintail\, Redhead\, and Canvasback ducks. Swans\, Greater White-fronted Goose\, and various species of grebe also frequent Celery Bog. \nThe terrain is flat and trails are well managed. The hike will be 2 to 2.5 miles. Restrooms are available at the Lilly Nature Center. Bring binoculars and a spotting scope if you have one. Dress appropriately for the weather. We’ll meet at 8:00 am in the first parking lot on the right\, inside the park. \nThere is no fee for the field trip. However\, it is limited to 12 participants\, and registration is required. Priority registration is available for ABAS members through October 15\, 2022\, at which time if there are any spots open\, registration will be open to non-members. DESCRIPTION:Contact Chuck Anderson to be put on a standby list for this FULL field trip. \nJoin ABAS Secretary and experienced bird hike leader Laurie Voss on a field trip to the Lye Creek Prairie Burn\, aka “The Burn”\, in search of fall sparrows\, migrant waterfowl\, and possible shorebirds. We’ll meet at The Burn at 8:30 am. \nParticipants should expect to hike two to three miles. The terrain is flat though there are no defined trails. Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate walking shoes. As always\, don’t forget your binoculars. There are NO restroom facilities on the property. \nThere is no fee for the field trip. However\, the field trip is limited to 12 participants\, and registration is required. Priority registration is available for ABAS members until October 8th\, after which time\, if there are spots available\, non-members may register. DESCRIPTION:Birds are fascinating and watching them can be an awe-inspiring experience. Catching a glimpse of these gorgeous creatures can be frustrating. Learning how to identify all of them can be overwhelming Join a Hamilton Co Parks Naturalist and other guest leaders Sunday and Wednesday mornings and we will learn together. This will be a great opportunity for birdwatchers of all levels. You may begin anytime during the season and come as often as you like. Pre-registration is not required. Don’t forget your binoculars! \nThese hikes meet in the north parking lot of Cool Creek Park past the Nature Center. \nPlan to follow existing federal\, state\, and local guidelines for masks and other COVID prevention measures.

SUMMARY:Bird Walks in the Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab
DESCRIPTION:The Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab is a wonderful place to bird watch\, with over 165 different species sightings being recorded since 2002. No experience is necessary\, and the hike will be led by one of the bird experts at Marian. The only things that are necessary are binoculars and a little bit of patience! \nWe will meet at the St. Francis statue just west of the Allison Mansion on the Marian campus at 8:00 am every Wednesday starting August 31 and ending November 16. Bring water to drink and wear comfortable shoes. No reservation is required.  Contact David Benson\, dbenson@marian.edu\, with questions. Plan to arrive about 10 minutes early to find parking.
