DESCRIPTION:The Marian University Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab is a wonderful place to bird watch\, with over 165 different species sighted since 2000. The property contains a landscape designed by famous landscape architect Jens Jensen in 1911. The result of that design is a high quality natural area with lots of wetland\, grassland\, and lowland forest habitat. It’s a historical and ecological gem in the middle of the city! \nWe will meet near the entrance to Allison Mansion at 8:00 a.m. every Wednesday during September\, October\, and November (excluding Thanksgiving week). Parking is no trouble if you arrive just before 8:00 a.m. Bring binoculars and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet if it has rained recently. No reservation is required. DESCRIPTION:Join Don Gorney for his 20th year of leading fall bird walks at Ft. Harrison State Park. Fall migration is lively and full of warblers\, raptors\, sparrows\, and other songbirds. During the walk Don will point out birds seen and heard and provide details on how to identify cryptic fall warblers\, drab flycatchers\, and LBJ’s (Little Brown Jobs\, also known as sparrows). \nWalks are approximately two hours on relatively even terrain. These hikes will focus on finding migrant warblers\, vireos\, and thrushes passing through during fall migration. We should find a different mix of migrants as we move through the month. This is a great time to come out and work on your fall plumage identification skills!\n\nWe will meet at 8:00am in the marina parking lot. Participants can expect the trip to end around 10:00am. This trip will entail walking on mostly paved surfaces\, mowed grass areas\, and well-maintained trails. DESCRIPTION:The Marian University Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab is a wonderful place to bird watch\, with over 165 different species sighted since 2000. The property contains a landscape designed by famous landscape architect Jens Jensen in 1911. The result of that design is a high quality natural area with lots of wetland\, grassland\, and lowland forest habitat. It’s a historical and ecological gem in the middle of the city! \nWe will meet near the entrance to Allison Mansion at 8:00 a.m. every Wednesday during September\, October\, and November (excluding Thanksgiving week). Parking is no trouble if you arrive just before 8:00 a.m. Bring binoculars and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet if it has rained recently. No reservation is required.
