DESCRIPTION:Join ABAS at The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park at Newfields for bird hikes on this beautiful property along the White River and Central Canal. The hikes will be led by an experienced birder from ABAS. \nMeet at the free parking at the loop just ¼ mile west of the 38th Street entrance to Newfields. The address given for this event is approximate. You’ll need to be heading west on 38th Street to enter the loop parking area. Take the White River Pkwy East exit. \nThe hike is free and open to the public. Registration is requested by emailing us at info@amosbutleraudubon.org. \n  \nAbout Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park: 100 Acres\nOn one hundred acres along the west side of Newfields\, just east of White River\, you’ll find Fairbanks Park. Explore woodlands\, wetlands\, meadows\, and the shoreline of a 35-acre lake. It’s one of the largest museum art parks in the country\, and unlike most\, continues to commission temporary\, site-responsive artworks. \nAs a former farm and later gravel quarry\, Fairbanks Park has a history of disturbance that has resulted in a mix of early successional woodlands\, some mature woodlands\, wetlands\, and a lake. This habitat diversity has created a property with the ability to host niche species of several different habitat types. Newfields strives to maintain that habitat diversity by invasive species removal and planting of Indiana native plant species in all areas of the Park. \nRecent additions include a nesting platform built to attract birds of prey\, a wild grass labyrinth\, and a variety of bird feeding and viewing stations.

SUMMARY:Fort Harrison State Park Spring Migration Walks
DESCRIPTION:Join Don Gorney for his spring migration bird walks at Ft. Harrison. During the walk Don will point out birds seen and heard and provide details on how to identify spring warblers. Walks are ninety minutes to two hours on relatively even terrain. There is no fee for the walk but standard gate admission applies. Meet in the northeast corner of the Delaware Lake parking lot. SUMMARY:Eagle Creek Park Warblers & Migrants - FULL
DESCRIPTION:Join birders extraordinaire Lisa and Randy Vanderbilt as we look for migrating Spring warblers. We’ll meet at 8:00 am in the parking lot at the marina and bird along the road leading to the marina\, as well as the open area and trails near the parking lot. Walking distance will be minimal and we’ll be on both paved roads and well-defined\, hard-packed dirt trails. There are indoor restrooms at the marina. \nThere is no fee for the field trip but an admission fee is required at the entrance to Eagle Creek Park. Annual passes for frequent park visits are available. The field trip is limited to 12 participants and registration is required. Learning how to identify all of them can be overwhelming Join a Hamilton Co Parks Naturalist and other guest leaders Sunday and Wednesday mornings and we will learn together. This will be a great opportunity for birdwatchers of all levels. You may begin anytime during the season and come as often as you like. Pre-registration is not required. Don’t forget your binoculars! \nThese hikes meet in the north parking lot of Cool Creek Park past the Nature Center. \nPlan to follow existing federal\, state\, and local guidelines for masks and other COVID prevention measures.
