Bird Hikes at McCloud Nature Park

CILTI Hike at the Fred and Dorothy Meyer Nature Preserve
CILTI Fred and Dorothy Nature Preserve 2600 N Old State Rd 67, Martinsville, IN, United StatesJoin the Central Indiana Land Trust (CILTI) for a fall hike at the Fred and Dorothy Meyer Preserve. This is a moderately difficult hike with some slopes and steep areas. The hike should present a beautiful sneak peek of fall colors in this Morgan County forest. This hike will be led by CILTI’s Stewardship Manager, Jamison Hutchins. The trail is considered moderate and appropriate for hikers who can handle some steep hills. Space is limited for this hike, so please register.

Fort Harrison State Park Fall Migration Walks
Fort Harrison State Park 6000 North Post Rd, Indianapolis, IN, United StatesJoin Don Gorney for his 20th year of leading fall bird walks at Ft. Harrison State Park. Fall migration is lively and full of warblers, raptors, sparrows, and other songbirds. During the walk Don will point out birds seen and heard and provide details on how to identify cryptic fall warblers, drab flycatchers, and LBJ’s (Little Brown Jobs, also known as sparrows).

Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab 3200 Cold Spring Road, Indianapolis, IN, United StatesThe Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab is a wonderful place to bird watch, with over 165 different species sightings being recorded since 2002. No experience is necessary, and the hike will be led by one of the bird experts at Marian. The only things that are necessary are binoculars and a little bit of patience! We will meet at the St. Francis statue just west of the Allison Mansion on the Marian campus at 8:00 am every Wednesday starting August 28th and ending the week before Thanksgiving. Bring water to drink and wear comfortable shoes. No reservation is required.

Enjoy southern Indiana fall colors, fall waterfowl migration, and delicious hot fall beverages along with snacks and lunch at the picturesque Stream Cliff Farm Farm Winery in Commiskey, Indiana. Registration is requested by emailing Jessica at jh_beagle@hotmail.com. Please indicate if you plan to join us for lunch so we can make reservations at the restaurant. For those interested in carpooling, we will be meeting at 7:30 am at the Wal-Mart at County Line and Emerson. It's exit 101 off I-65. If you'd like to meet us at the refuge we'll be there between 8:30 am and 9:00 am.

Volunteer Training Series
Holliday Park Nature Center 6363 Spring Mill Road, Indianapolis, IN, United StatesABAS is making it even easier to volunteer with our Volunteer Training Program! Each session will focus on a different topic designed to provide volunteers with hands-on opportunities to gain the knowledge and skills needed to help with chapter programs and events. No experience needed, open to individuals age 16+. This session will be how to lead or assist on a bird hike. Much of the session will be a bird hike led by Dan Boritt, Holliday Park Manager. We are looking for volunteers who want to lead or help on bird hikes.
