No experience is necessary\, and the hike will be led by one of the bird experts at Marian. The only things that are necessary are binoculars and a little bit of patience! \nWe will meet at the St. Francis statue just west of the Allison Mansion on the Marian campus at 8:00 am every Wednesday starting August 28th and ending the week before Thanksgiving. DESCRIPTION:Join Central Indiana Land Trust (CILTI) for a morning of invasive species control at this nature preserve in Avon. Volunteers will work to remove invasive honeysuckle from the preserve. \nWhat to Expect and Bring: \nBring work gloves if you have them\, and wear boots and long pants. If you don’t have gloves\, CILTI will provide some. Please dress for the weather as we will work rain or shine. No experience needed. \nLocation and Parking: \nDirections to Burnett Woods from US-36 in Avon – head south on Dan Jones Rd (CR 800 East).  At the roundabout at CR 100 South\, turn left.  You can park in the back row of the Light and Life Methodist Church. CILTI staff will meet participants in the lot at 10:00 am. \nRegistration is required. Register at CILTI’s event page. SUMMARY:Fort Harrison State Park Fall Migration Walks
DESCRIPTION:Join Don Gorney for his 21st year of leading fall bird walks at Ft. Harrison State Park. Fall migration is lively and full of warblers\, raptors\, sparrows\, and other songbirds. During the walk\, Don will point out birds seen and heard and provide details on how to identify cryptic fall warblers\, drab flycatchers\, and LBJ’s (Little Brown Jobs\, also known as sparrows). \nWalks are approximately two hours on relatively even terrain. DESCRIPTION:The Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab is a wonderful place to bird watch\, with over 165 different species sightings being recorded since 2002. No experience is necessary\, and the hike will be led by one of the bird experts at Marian. The only things that are necessary are binoculars and a little bit of patience! \nWe will meet at the St. Francis statue just west of the Allison Mansion on the Marian campus at 8:00 am every Wednesday starting August 28th and ending the week before Thanksgiving. SUMMARY:Fall Sparrow Field Trip at Lebanon Business Park
DESCRIPTION:Join Scott Enochs as he leads you on a field trip to a local hotspot in search of resident and migratory sparrows.  Our target sparrows will be Song\, Field\, Swamp\, Lincoln’s\, Vesper\, White-throated\, White-crowned\, Nelson’s and LeConte’s.  The event will take place on Saturday\, October 12. Due to parking limitations\, group size will be limited to 12 participants.  We will meet in the southwest corner of the Traders Point Dick’s Sporting Goods\, located at 6030 West 86th Street and carpool to the fullest extent\, as parking is limited at our destination.  We will be walking through tall weeds and grass\, and through muddy areas\, so please dress accordingly.  Waders are highly recommended. Terrain will be uneven as well as there are no trails. We will spend approximately 2 hours in the field\, longer if desired.  This is a free event\, but registration is required by contacting Scott at (317) 850-4801.
