During the walk\, expert birder Don Gorney will point out birds seen and heard and provide details on how to identify cryptic fall warblers\, drab flycatchers\, and LBJ’s\, or Little Brown Jobs\, also known as sparrows. \nWalks are approximately two hours on relatively even terrain. There is no fee for the walk but standard gate admission applies. Meet in the northeast corner of the Delaware Lake parking lot at 8:00 am.

SUMMARY:Bird Walks in the Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab
DESCRIPTION:The Nina Mason Pulliam EcoLab is a wonderful place to bird watch\, with over 165 different species sightings being recorded since 2002. No experience is necessary\, and the hike will be led by one of the bird experts at Marian. The only things that are necessary are binoculars and a little bit of patience! \nWe will meet at the St. Francis statue just west of the Allison Mansion on the Marian campus at 8:00 am every Wednesday starting August 31 and ending November 16. Bring water to drink and wear comfortable shoes. No reservation is required.  Contact David Benson\, dbenson@marian.edu\, with questions. Plan to arrive about 10 minutes early to find parking.

DESCRIPTION:Contact Chuck Anderson to be put on a standby list for this FULL field trip. \nJoin ABAS Secretary and experienced bird hike leader Laurie Voss on a field trip to the Lye Creek Prairie Burn\, aka “The Burn”\, in search of fall sparrows\, migrant waterfowl\, and possible shorebirds. We’ll meet at The Burn at 8:30 am. \nParticipants should expect to hike two to three miles. The terrain is flat though there are no defined trails. Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate walking shoes. As always\, don’t forget your binoculars. There are NO restroom facilities on the property. \nThere is no fee for the field trip. However\, the field trip is limited to 12 participants\, and registration is required. Priority registration is available for ABAS members until October 8th\, after which time\, if there are spots available\, non-members may register. To register email Chuck Anderson at chucka1999@aol.com or text Chuck at (317) 767-5438. \nThe Burn is on County Road 650 N in Montgomery County in the general area of Crawfordsville. Learning how to identify all of them can be overwhelming Join a Hamilton Co Parks Naturalist and other guest leaders Sunday and Wednesday mornings and we will learn together. This will be a great opportunity for birdwatchers of all levels. You may begin anytime during the season and come as often as you like. Pre-registration is not required. Don’t forget your binoculars! \nThese hikes meet in the north parking lot of Cool Creek Park past the Nature Center. \nPlan to follow existing federal\, state\, and local guidelines for masks and other COVID prevention measures.
