SUMMARY:Nocturnal Migrants
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted the opportunity to observe migrating birds at night? Each fall\, hundreds of species of songbirds make the perilous journey from their Canadian breeding grounds\, to the jungles of South America. Join Eagle Creek Ornithology Center naturalist\, Aidan Rominger\, on Wednesday\, September 18th\, from 7:00-8:30 pm where he will go through how to properly ID many of these migrating songbird species at night\, by listening to flight calls given by each species. He will also go into depth on how to best view these migrating songbirds under the stars! The first half of the class will be inside in the classroom\, and the second half will be held in the field to listen for any migrating songbirds\, as well as see if we can view them flying past the moon using a scope and binoculars. DESCRIPTION:Attention birders! Have you ever wanted the opportunity to improve your shorebird identification skills? Look no further than the Eagle Creek Ornithology Centers Fall Shorebird ID workshop! With over 34 regularly occurring shorebird species found in Indiana annually\, shorebirds can be a fun yet challenging group of species to confidently identify. Join Eagle Creek Ornithology Center naturalist\, Aidan Rominger on Tuesday\, September 24th from 5:30-7:30pm where he will teach how to properly identify shorebirds in fall plumage\, as well as other useful tips that will make identifying these challenging birds a breeze! The first half of the class will be held inside in the Eagle Creek OC classroom. The second half of the program will be out in the field to look for any shorebirds we can find in the park\, putting our classroom skills to the test! Cost for adults is $10 and youth participants are FREE (recommended for ages 12+ only).
