DESCRIPTION:Celebrate International Vulture Awareness Day with crafts and activities all day at the Ornithology Center! Saturday\, September 2nd. FREE with park admission – donations to our Raptor Ambassador Fund greatly appreciated. \n10:00 – 11:30 am Vultures\, Coyotes\, & Crows\, Oh My! – Scavengers are often misunderstood even though they play an important role in our ecosystems! Join a naturalist at the Eagle Creek Ornithology Center to learn all about what makes a scavenger\, why animals scavenge\, and why they are so important for our ecosystems! Engage in activities to learn about the life of scavengers\, including a guess that scent game\, as well as a special scavenger hunt in our Outdoor Classroom. This event is designed for kids 2nd to 5th grade. FREE with park admission but the program will be capped at 25 people maximum. Please call ahead if you have any accessibility needs – we would be happy to accommodate! \n2:30 – 3:00 pm Raptor Feeding Time – Learn all about vultures and meet Matilda\, our Turkey Vulture Ambassador! FREE with park admission\, drop-ins welcome. DESCRIPTION:Accomplished birder and photographer\, Aidan Rominger\, will share his knowledge and photos from his pelagic birding excursions off both the east and west coasts. Pelagic birds live in the open sea and generally only come to land during their nesting season. Shearwaters\, petrels\, and albatross are only a few of the birds included in his presentation. A must see program for those interested in going on a pelagic birding trip.

DESCRIPTION:Each fall\, hundreds of species of songbirds make the perilous journey from their Canadian breeding grounds\, to the jungles of South America. Join Eagle Creek Ornithology Center naturalist\, Aidan Rominger\, on September 29th\, 2023 where he will go through how to properly ID many of these migrating songbird species at night\, by listening to flight calls given by each species. We will also go into depth on how to best view these migrating songbirds under the stars! \nThe first half of the class will be inside in the classroom\, and the second half\, we will go out and listen for any migrating songbirds\, as well as see if we can view them flying past the moon.
