Celebrate International Vulture Awareness Day with crafts and activities all day at the Ornithology Center! Saturday, September 2nd. FREE with park admission – donations to our Raptor Ambassador Fund greatly appreciated.

10:00 – 11:30 am Vultures, Coyotes, & Crows, Oh My! – Scavengers are often misunderstood even though they play an important role in our ecosystems! Join a naturalist at the Eagle Creek Ornithology Center to learn all about what makes a scavenger, why animals scavenge, and why they are so important for our ecosystems! Engage in activities to learn about the life of scavengers, including a guess that scent game, as well as a special scavenger hunt in our Outdoor Classroom. This event is designed for kids 2nd to 5th grade. FREE with park admission but the program will be capped at 25 people maximum. Please call ahead if you have any accessibility needs – we would be happy to accommodate!

2:30 – 3:00 pm Raptor Feeding Time – Learn all about vultures and meet Matilda, our Turkey Vulture Ambassador! FREE with park admission, drop-ins welcome. Outside, rain or shine.

12:00 – 4:00 pm Vulture crafts and coloring in the nature classroom; Scavenger Hunts; Migration Obstacle Course available upon request
