Allie Combs has been an Assistant Park Manager starting in March 2022 and Park Manager at Holliday Park for a little over two years. A graduate of Butler University, Allie has been a programmer for Newfields working in the education department. At first, she worked with schools shaping the minds of our youth through art and nature. Later, she graduated beyond schools to include museum programming for families and adults and larger format festivals working alongside the horticulture team.
If you are looking for a super deep cut on Allie, she worked as a screen print saleswoman fresh out of college- we all gotta start somewhere! But her love of the outdoors and serving the community could not be wavered and brought her to the position she holds today at Holliday Park: a city park, in the heart of Indianapolis, with almost 100 acres of grounds that include a Nature Center, a playground, trails, and access to the White River.
Allie is from Kokomo, Indiana where she completed ten years of 4-H exhibiting livestock and various projects with an organization that instilled a love for informal education and interpretation, and one that she still participates in today as a project leader. She is a fan of visiting parks and spending time with her husband Colby, her three sisters, and friends. You’ll often find Allie reading (never met a book she didn’t wanna read), baking (can decorate a mean birthday cake), and birding with the Sunday morning bird hike at Eagle Creek (light on the birding and heavy on the yapping).
Allie lends a hand to the Indiana Native Plant Society by serving on the Central Chapter’s board as the Plant Sale Chair and recently joined the Indiana Parks and Recreation Association’s Young Professionals Committee. She is happy to be joining Amos Butler Audubon Society as a Board member and as their new Recording Secretary.
